New Jersey Safe Boating
This 8 hour classroom course is required to obtain a New Jersey Safe Boating Certificate if you plan to operate a personal watercraft or a power vessel on the waters of the State of New Jersey. It covers all required subjects and is suitable for power boaters, sail boaters and jet skiiers. A score of 80% or higher on the test ensures a New Jersey Safe Boating Certificate. Minimum age to attend course is 12 years old, boating restrictions apply until 16 years of age. Click here for FAQ’s www.state.nj.us/njsp/maritime/faq.html. This course is taught by qualified and certified instructors with US Coast Guard Captain’s licenses and is approved by the NJ State Police Marine Services Bureau. Course includes booklet and certificate. This course is required for any skipper of a sailboat rental or any student prior to an on-the-water sailing class at Nelson Sailing Center. (6 student minimum)
