ASA “Challenge”
Knowledgeable and experienced sailors who have reviewed the ASA standards and consider themselves proficient in each area are invited to “challenge” the standards (click here for details). Each certification must be challenged successively, with corresponding prerequisites met at each level staring with ASA 101. This can be accomplished by taking a private on-the-water skills test and the written exam in order to test out of a level. ASA certification provides you with formal qualifications in order to rent sailboats at other facilities here in the US and abroad, as it is becoming more necessary to be qualified, even if you have years of experience.
ASA 101 Test Out price includes a 2-3 hour on-the-water skills test on a 23’ Ensign, certification, written exam, log book and ASA Membership Benefits (click here for details):

- $24.95 plus tax for ASA Sailing Made Easy textbook (optional)
ASA 103 Test Out price includes a 2-3 hour on-the-water skills test on a boat 29’-35’, certification and written exam:
- $300 ASA 103 Test Out
- $27.95 plus tax for ASA Cruising Made Easy textbook (optional)
